In Peter at the Cross: An Eyewitness Tells All David Mulready explores the historical events surrounding the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, mostly through the eyewitness accounts of the Apostle Peter. These 40 daily reflections can be used for personal study as well as by groups, with the use of sets of discussion questions. Eight sermon outlines are included which may be useful in the preparation of Bible talks.
AboutDavid Mulready has served the Lord in parish ministry in the Dioceses of Sydney and Armidale, in rural and city parishes, and has worked with the Bush Church Aid Society in NSW. Since ‘retirement’, David and his wife Maureen attend St George’s Gerringong, in NSW. David is the author of four previous Lenten devotional books.
ReviewSome years have passed since, when working with Anglican Youthworks, I approached David Mulready and asked him to write for our Lenten Studies Series. Although at first hesitant, David agreed and has served us well with this, his fifth in the overall series.
Peter at the Cross is a very readable and thorough exploration of Peter’s life and ministry. We are directed to the Scriptures for an insight into Peter the man and Peter the disciple and servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we move through history from the Gospel accounts to the Acts of the Apostles to Peter’s Letters, we learn of a man impacted and changed dramatically by his Lord, Jesus. But David Mulready also brings his own (eye) witness to the studies through his life experience impacted by his Christian faith – as one also changed by his Lord, Jesus. Through David’s own life experience he brings to us challenging questions and personal and relevant prayers to enable our own growth and ongoing change. Thank you David for continuing to serve us.
