7 Principles of Effective Discipleship of Children

Faithful Christians are to raise their children ‘in the training and instruction of the Lord’ so that they know the Scriptures from infancy and grow up to know salvation through faith in Christ. Translating biblical convictions about the value of ministry to children into effective everyday practice is the challenge. Created by Youthworks Ministry Support, this paper distils a biblical understanding of children, families and the church into seven principles that inform the effective discipleship of children. Each principle will be explained theologically alongside a variety of examples and possible ways this might be implemented. Diagnostic questions are also provided to help the reader evaluate their own values and practice.
